Job Description

A specialized teaching role is available at an elementary school in Middletown, OH, focused on supporting English learners within a diverse classroom setting. This contract position spans the full school year and requires expertise in both Special Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) teaching license with an ESL Endorsement
  • Deep understanding of second language acquisition, ESL methodologies, and multicultural education strategies
  • Proficiency in differentiated instruction tailored to English learners across various proficiency levels
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for engaging effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Strong commitment to equity and inclusion in educational environments

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Designing and implementing ESL instruction in accordance with Ohios English Language Proficiency Standards
  • Providing push-in, pull-out, and co-teaching support to English learners across content areas
  • Developing individualized language plans based on student proficiency assessments
  • Monitoring student progress using assessment tools such as the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA)
  • Partnering with general education teachers to tailor instruction and enhance EL students academic success
  • Ensuring compliance with ODE ESL program standards, including proper documentation and parent communication
  • Promoting culturally responsive teaching practices and advocating for the academic and social needs of EL students
