Alexander Rose International are partnered with a top ranked ENR GC in the Southeast in the search for a Senior Project Executive (SPX) to lead the Mission Critical / Data Center division.
Summary
Responsible for assisting in the general business operations of the company by leading and directing the operations and activities of the mission critical business unit. The overall goal of the SPX is to ensure quality and profitable projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, while promoting and enhancing client relationships and the company’s image.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in establishing corporate goals, objectives, and operating and strategic plans and communicate to staff.
- Establish and communicate short and long-term goals and objectives for business unit, consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
- Make recommendations for ways to improve business operations (including processes, procedures and best operating practices), looking for ways to improve efficiency and profitability and to increase client satisfaction.
- Consistently provide others with appropriate day-to-day and strategic information so others can make informed decisions.
Business Development/Sales And Client Relations
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of services and capabilities (and those of competitors) to assist in identifying applicable potential new clients and projects.
- Analyze the marketplace for pertinent strategic opportunities and create strategies that result in winning profitable new business.
- Develop and maintain trust and confidence of clients; maintain close contact with clients to gain feedback and to assist in leading to new and repeat business.
- Facilitate professional and competitive proposals and presentations.
- Lead and/or participate in client presentations and meetings.
- Maintain a detailed pipeline of clients and projects in Prophet, including status of opportunities and analysis/reasons for wins/losses.
- Share information with other offices regarding business development opportunities in other areas or where pursuits of the same client may exist.
Operations
- Take steps to anticipate short and long-term future consequences and trends, using knowledge and perspective.
- Review and negotiate contracts and mitigate risks associated with project and contract terms.
- Manage, in a cost effective manner, warranty and post warranty claims.
- Review ongoing project performance, to include estimating, budgeting, staffing, job cost management, attaining/enhancing fee, etc.
Staff Management
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff; provide oversight to ensure effective and efficient operation of business unit and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Evaluate performance of staff and provide them with regular, ongoing feedback (positive as well as constructive areas for improvement or development opportunities); complete timely formal performance evaluations.
- Mentor staff; encourage their professional development and growth.
- Create and foster collaborative and effective team relationships.
Safety
- Comply with all safety policies, report suspected safety concerns, make recommendations for enhancements to the safety program, and visibly support and uphold the company’s strong safety culture.
- Provide oversight to ensure employees are conducting all construction activities in a safe, clean and orderly working environment and ensure job site compliance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), including communication to subcontractors, addressing job site issues and documentation of any IIPP events in adherence with the Company’s IIPP manual.
Personal
- Understand, work within, and visibly support the accepted ethical standards of the company.
- Actively participate in the local construction and real estate community to network and build relationships.
- Stay abreast of changes in the industry, best practices, and other industry information by appropriate reading, meetings, conferences, networking, etc.
- Remain current in all company required training and certifications.
Education / Experience
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant operations and business development experience with a general contractor and a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
- Proven track record of selling profitable work and of successfully managing a business plan.
