Schedule: Full Time Location: 5101 Willow Springs Road, La Grange, IL 60525 The community you’ll be caring for: UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange The Role You’ll Contribute Responsible for operational management of the clinical laboratory, including direct leadership of technical associates and pre-analytic supervision as needed. This position performs all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory, provides a high level of technical knowledge, and applies it to testing and clinical relevance. Value You’ll Bring to the Team Manages the clinical laboratory's operations, including direct leadership of technical associates. Schedules staff and monitors workflow to ensure efficient laboratory operations. Serves as a liaison with other laboratory departments and hospital services. Selects, hires, trains, appraises performance, and takes corrective action for associates. Investigates and resolves occurrence reports, compiling various reports and resolving issues. Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification and appropriate specimen type. Coordinates implementation and validation of new analyzers, ensuring proficiency testing is assigned, tested, and submitted. Monitors quality metrics and processes to meet goals, facilitating investigation, follow‑up, and retraining with associates as needed. Assists with resolution of unusual test orders by following up with reference lab, referring to lab leadership when appropriate. Performs all levels of testing within the assigned discipline with a high level of competency, utilizing critical thinking skills to correlate and interpret data. Leads and participates in laboratory performance improvement activities, promoting team building, employee engagement, patient satisfaction, and safety. Follows safety policies including the use of PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling, and completes required training for handling hazardous waste. May include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area; employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment. Other duties as assigned.
