We have 86 quarries and 56 asphalt plants across Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. Rogers Group is seeking an experienced TRUCKING DISPATCHER to join our trucking team based out of Cookeville, TN. The successful candidate for this role should have at least 1 year of experience in dispatching and coordinating routes and MUST have a CDL license and be able to drive a dump truck if needed. Key responsibilities Scheduling and Route Optimization : Developing and assigning routes to truck drivers, taking into account delivery locations, schedules, customer needs, traffic conditions, and fuel efficiency. Driver Management: Maintaining regular communication with drivers, providing updates on load details and routes, and addressing any issues or delays that may arise, such as mechanical problems or breakdowns, also monitors drivers' compliance with hours of service regulations and manages their schedules to ensure work-life balance. Communication Hub : Acting as the central point of contact between truck drivers, customers, and the company, relaying information and addressing inquiries or concerns related to deliveries. Problem-Solving : Quickly resolving unforeseen issues, including traffic delays, unexpected route changes, or delivery problems. Paperwork and Compliance: Handling necessary documentation and maintaining accurate records, including deliveries and driver information, while ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards. Client Relations: Communicating with customers, both internal and external, regarding delivery details and keeping them informed of any potential delays. May also be involved in finding potential clients and negotiating rates. Required skills and qualifications Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting clearly and concisely with drivers, customers, and other key players involved in the process. Organizational and Time Management Skills: The ability to manage multiple trucks, schedules, and priorities in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Problem-Solving Abilities : Quick thinking and effective decision-making are essential to address unexpected challenges and maintain on-time deliveries. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with transportation management software, GPS tracking systems, load scheduling, and other relevant technologies is advantageous. Industry Knowledge: A good understanding of trucking industry operations, regulations (including Hours of Service regulations and Department of Transportation regulations), and best practices is important. Customer Service Skills: Providing excellent customer service by addressing concerns and answering questions related to delivery in a professional and timely manner. Attention to Detail : Accuracy in record-keeping, route planning, and proficiency in Excel is a must. A CDL License is required. And must be able to drive a dump truck if needed.
