Senior Commercial Underwriter

• $90,000 ‒ $110,000 Annually

SUMMARY:

• The Senior Commercial Underwriter interacts directly with loan officers and customers/prospects regarding commercial business loans. A Bank Underwriting Analyst is responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential loan applicants by thoroughly analyzing their financial information, assessing risk factors, and making informed lending decisions in accordance with established bank policies and regulatory guidelines

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze commercial (Commercial & Industrial and Commercial Real Estate) loan applications to determine creditworthiness
• Assess the viability of the loan request consistent with bank policy and underwriting standards
• Utilize quantitative tools to assess creditworthiness with an emphasis on the identification and assessment of the primary, secondary, and tertiary sources of repayment
• Identify potential risks and areas of concern within loan applications
• Prepare detailed credit reports outlining findings and recommendations for loan approval or denial
• Underwrite clients adhering to Banc underwriting policies, guidance, and templates
• Collaborate with loan officers, relationship managers, and other departments to gather necessary information and facilitate the loan process

• Ensure loan applications comply with all applicable banking regulations
• Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Clearly communicate credit decisions and rationale to internal stakeholders
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 2-5 years of banking or credit experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in financial analysis and credit scoring models
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Knowledge of banking regulations and lending guidelines
• Use of financial spreading software (e.g., Abrigo)
• Intermediate Microsoft Suite experience

WORK CONDITIONS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and occasionally lift one to fifteen pounds
• Working Conditions are in the office
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

TRAINING:

• Must complete all required mandatory and regulatory training

BANK SECRECY ACT (BSA):

• Follow all policies and procedures of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC)
