Job Summary :
We are seeking a passionate and creative Performing Arts Teacher to join our team. This position involves teaching a variety of performing arts disciplines. The ideal candidate will inspire and engage students while promoting a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages all students to participate and express their artistic talents.
Plan, rehearse, and produce school performances, providing students with practical experiences in the performing arts.
Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills in students.
Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including performances, tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.
Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
Regular and predictable attendance
Cognitive Demands:
Supervision of multiple students at once
Establishing routines and procedures
Maintaining a safe and orderly environment
Create and implement instructional plans
Participate in continuous professional development
Effective oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs
Stand and walk frequently
Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year
Withstand a moderate noise level
Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
Assist/lift students, as necessary
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts, Dance, Music, Drama, Education, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.
Strong performance skills and experience in directing or producing performances.
Passion for the arts and a commitment to fostering a positive, engaging learning environment.
