Job Description

Position Description:

The Lease Analyst will provide lease analysis, contract analysis and general land consulting services to many oil and gas clients using a variety of systems. They will serve as a key member of the Land Administration team located in our Northwest, Houston office with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Set up of all Oil & Gas Leases, ROWs, Surface Agreements, Material Contracts, Property Records and other appropriate documents in Opportune’s land systems, maintaining and updating as necessary
  • Prepare, process and manage obligation reports, lease payment calendars, lease expiration reports and other relevant lease & contract reports from Opportune’s systems to provide to clients
  • Process monthly lease obligation payments using Opportune’s systems and work with Treasury and JIB departments on lease obligation payment check distribution and billing issues
  • Field void and/or reissue requests from clients and process same in Opportune’s systems
  • Maintain responsibility over lease obligation payment and void packets—and maintain log for audit purposes
  • Work closely with Division Order Analysts in making changes to Lease or Contract data arising from division of interest changes
  • Assist Landmen in a wide variety of tasks, to include: operator contact, online research, data gathering, data room preparation, exhibit preparation, etc

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree. Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years broad based experience in Land or Land Administration.
  • Candidates must have working knowledge of Land Systems, written and verbal communication skills; excellent customer service skills with internal and external parties.
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, multi-tasking, problem-solving, time management and organization skills required with meticulous attention to detail
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently at assigned tasks and to work as a team member within the department
  • Willingness to accept a work schedule with various demands which will vary as departmental workload/projects fluctuate
