Job Description

Compression Mechanical, a Blake & Pendleton, Inc. subsidiary, is looking for entry-level Install -General Laborer-Level 1 techs to join our team.

A general laborer assists in a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair tasks requiring no knowledge and skills, including operating hand tools, handling materials, assisting skilled tradespeople, and completing basic tasks in areas such as housekeeping and organization, always under the supervision of an Install Foreman, while adhering to safety regulations and quality standards.

Key responsibilities may include:

• Operating hand tools
• Loading, unloading, and transporting materials to work areas
• Cleaning up debris, preparing work areas, and setting up/taking down of equipment
• Supporting electricians, pipe fitters, welders/fabricators, and other specialized workers with tasks as needed
• Ensuring individual tasks are completed to specifications and performed safely
• Some out-of-town travel is expected within a 60-mile air radius
• Communicating 24/7 when allocated to an active project

Required Skills:

• Average verbal and written communication ability
• Average interpersonal skills
• Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• No knowledge of the construction industry
• Ability to lift weights to 50 pounds
• Attention to detail and safety

Education and Experience:

Skilled laborers need to earn a high school diploma or equivalent. No years of experience in the construction/industrial industry are required. The employer will provide on-the-job training as needed.
