Position Summary:
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will provide clinical expertise, education, consultation, and leadership in behavioral health to benefit patients, staff, and the organization. Your role involves fostering collegial relationships, enhancing communication with staff, and promoting excellence in nursing practice. You will represent the organization positively and professionally.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; hold and maintain a Registered Nurse license in Connecticut.
  • Must possess a BSN from an accredited university.
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred; matriculation is required after one year in this position.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required upon hire or during new employee orientation.
  • Basic certification in a nursing specialty is preferred (Nursing/Education).

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical practice, nursing education, or nursing management in an acute care setting.
  • At least three (3) years of behavioral health experience is required.

Competencies:

  • Maintain clinical competency in assigned area.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-quality direct patient care in your area of expertise and assess care quality for specific patients.
  2. Coordinate and implement orientation programs for nursing staff to ensure comprehensive training and support.
  3. Conduct ongoing continuing education initiatives to meet educational standards.
  4. Plan and implement annual Nursing competencies in collaboration with Nurse Managers.
  5. Utilize expert judgment to identify and address significant patient care issues.
  6. Facilitate clinical practice interventions to enhance outcomes, staffing skills, and resource management.
  7. Provide indirect patient care through delegation to staff and collaboration with healthcare team members.
  8. Act as a knowledgeable resource for staff to optimize decision-making based on relevant clinical data.
  9. Engage in teaching and coaching for staff, nursing students, and patients/families.
  10. Encourage a spirit of inquiry by identifying research needs and applying findings to improve clinical practice.
  11. Author and implement clinical guidelines and policy improvements to enhance organizational standards.
  12. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve comprehensive solutions for patient care.
  13. Serve as a positive role model showcasing the integration of theory and practice in nursing.
  14. Utilize evidence-based practices for clinical and educational materials.
  15. Act as a change agent promoting clinical and professional leadership within the healthcare system.
