The ICU Nurse Educator reports to the Director of Nursing Education and partners closely with the ICU Nurse Manager, Critical Care leadership, and Respiratory Therapy to build effective education and training programs that satisfy regulatory requirements and drive positive outcomes. Educators, preceptors, and clinical champions collaborate with the ICU Nurse Educator through a matrixed structure to deliver onboarding, competencies, and skills validation across the ICU and related units. The ICU Nurse Educator also works alongside intensivists, Rapid Response/Code Blue teams, Quality/Patient Safety, and HR/OD to align education with organizational strategy and evidence-based standards.
The ICU Nurse Educator designs and facilitates orientation, preceptor development, and ongoing competency programs using evidence-based practices, high-fidelity simulation, and skills labs tailored to critical care, while maintaining subject matter expertise and Maryland RN licensure. The role drives continuous readiness by aligning policies with critical care and regulatory standards, leading education for new technologies and clinical workflows, and mentoring staff on safety, quality indicators, sepsis bundles, ventilator and hemodynamic management, and clinical excellence. Administratively, the ICU Nurse Educator manages education calendars and the LMS, tracks metrics, partners on budgets and resources for training, and coordinates with physicians and leaders to support staffing models and operational goals. Candidates earning quick interviews hold their BSN and have over three years of related experience. certification in Nursing Professional Development is preferred.
