Summary

The Freight Forwarder is responsible for reviewing and processing shipment transactions for major accounts, ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with company and regulatory standards. The role serves as the primary contact for account contracts and works closely with internal and external partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Promote positive relationships by providing excellent, proactive customer service at all times in collaboration with other departments and third parties.
• Receive, review, and process high-volume and/or complex import and export transactions, including booking, billing, classification, data entry, and consular releases.
• Check shipments in the warehouse to confirm shipping documents match actual shipments.
• Process bills of lading and provide clear instructions for handling each shipment.
• Ensure hazardous material shipments are checked and processed in accordance with all applicable regulations.
• Create quotations for individual shipments and estimate freight costs, select transportation carriers, and set profit margins.
• Review and monitor all Shipper Export Declaration rejections, client requests for information, and government agency correspondence.
• Adhere to domestic and international shipping regulations, communicating changes to clients and partners in a clear, concise, and timely manner.
• Identify transactions requiring special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions within the assigned scope.
• Investigate and resolve client concerns by monitoring team performance and alerting clients to potential issues in the shipping process.

Educational Background / Work Experience

• Three years of experience in a role with extensive client contact.
• Familiarity with domestic and international geography, including major cities.
• Extreme attention to detail and the ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively.
• Ability to work productively under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Freight Forwarding experience preferred.
• Prior use of CargoWise One is a definite plus.
• English proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking).

Computer Literacy

• Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Compensation

Hourly: $18.75 $25.50 per hour (base pay). Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, and experience.
