Custodian

Rathje Construction Co., a 60+ year family-owned heavy civil construction company located in Marion, IA is looking for a custodian be a key part of their team. 

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. Experience in janitorial/custodial work in a commercial environment is preferable

3. Have a valid driver’s license and qualify under the company’s insurance carrier when driving a company vehicle

4. Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing

5. Ability to read safety data sheets (SDS)

Essential Functions:

· Keep dispatch, restrooms, shop and storage areas clean on a daily basis; includes floors, rugs, windows, doors and walls

· Picks up shop and cleaning supplies as needed

· Empty trash and recycling bins

· Keep grounds mowed on a regular basis, sprays weeds and pick up debris

· Remove debris and snow from sidewalks

· Assist shop personnel with projects as needed

· Occasionally mows on jobsites

· Occasionally sprays for weeds on jobsites

· Assists in the repair and maintenance of minor shop and building repairs

· Requires prolonged standing

· Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning and reaching

· Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year round

· Must work in and around dust, fumes and odors

· Must be able to work in high places

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

· Must be a self-starter

Position is full time, Monday – Friday, mid-day to evening shift

Wage is negotiable based on experience
