Chief Plant Operations Manager (Water Quality)

SALARY

 

The minimum salary is $79,073.28 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to direct the efficient operation of multiple sewage treatment plants, insuring the proper and timely maintenance and repair of all plant systems and that all plant operations are in accordance with local, state and federal treatment requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related field


• Six (6) years of related experience, 2 years must be in a management or supervisory capacity


• Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience


• Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education


• Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License or its equivalent from another state. Those with an equivalent from another state are required to have it converted to a Kentucky Class IV License within six (6) months as a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Manage the operation of two Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plants and one full service certified laboratory, providing direct supervision to the managers assigned to those operations


• Plans, directs and supervises the repair of plant equipment and grounds


• Reviews reports for submission as required by government agencies for permitting


• Coordinates with plant engineering staff to develop and implement capital projects


• Conducts routine inspection of plant operations


• Analyzes laboratory reports and makes decisions with regard to any deficiencies in the plant


• Coordinates budget development and administration for multiple treatment plants


• Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky Class IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License or its equivalent from another state. Those with an equivalent from another state are required to have it converted to a Kentucky Class IV License within six (6) months as a condition of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
