Overview

We are seeking an experienced Capacity Planner Consultant with a strong background in SAP S/4HANA to join our strategic operations team. This role is responsible for the overall planning and management of production capacity across our manufacturing and resource centers. The ideal candidate will leverage deep expertise in Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) within S/4HANA to optimize resource utilization, identify potential bottlenecks, and ensure alignment between sales forecasts, production schedules, and available resources

SAP S/4HANA Configuration & Utilization

• Design, configure, and implement Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) and capacity leveling processes within the SAP S/4HANA environment.
• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all S/4HANA modules related to capacity planning, including Production Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM) integration points.
• Develop and maintain key SAP master data relevant to capacity, such as work center formulas, standard values, and production routings.
• Customize capacity evaluation tools (e.g., standard SAP reports, Fiori apps) to provide clear visibility into resource loading and overload conditions.

Strategic Capacity Management & Planning

• Lead the long-term, medium-term, and short-term capacity planning cycles, translating demand forecasts into detailed resource requirements (manpower, machinery, tooling).
• Perform sophisticated capacity simulations and scenario planning (e.g., what-if analysis) to support business decisions regarding capital expenditure, resource reallocation, and subcontracting.
• Identify, analyze, and communicate capacity constraints and risks to Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations leadership, developing mitigation strategies to ensure On-Time Delivery (OTD).
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for capacity utilization and efficiency, driving continuous improvement initiatives across the production floor.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Collaborate closely with Production Scheduling to optimize capacity leveling activities and resolve resource conflicts.
• Work with Engineering and Maintenance teams to accurately model machine availability and maintenance schedules within the capacity planning system.
• Develop training materials and conduct workshops for end-users on S/4HANA capacity planning best practices and new system functionalities.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in Capacity Planning, Production Planning, or Manufacturing Operations, with at least 3 years in a consulting or lead role.
• SAP S/4HANA Expertise:
• Demonstrable hands-on experience implementing and configuring Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) in  SAP S/4HANA (or SAP ECC with significant S/4 migration experience).
• In-depth knowledge of Work Center management, Routings, Production Order functionality, and the integration of capacity with MRP (Material Requirements Planning).
• Capacity Management: Proven experience developing strategic capacity models, performing rough-cut capacity planning (RCCP), and advanced scheduling.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data sets, translate capacity utilization metrics into business insights, and drive data-driven decision-making.
