Geometrics Engineering is growing! We have a unique opportunity for a Resident Engineer in San Francisco Bay Area, California. This position will support the airfield construction program for runway and taxiway rehabilitation including earthwork, drainage, utilities, asphalt and concrete pavement construction, markings and more.

In this role you will support the Construction Manager on one or more aviation projects in the areas of construction management, contract administration, document control and general administrative support services. Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the Construction Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Construction Manager to deliver high-quality airfield construction projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of the project-related documents (meeting agenda/minutes, reports, correspondence, logs, etc.).
  • Act as the Resident Engineer to coordinate and verify that construction activities adhere to project specifications, quality standards, and FAA requirements.
  • Provide support to, and as directed by, the Construction Manager, including activities related to:
  • Progress payments of construction contractors.
  • Submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), Change Orders
  • Shop drawings.
  • Project-related correspondence.
  • Daily and special inspection reports.
  • Review monthly pay applications and provide supporting documentation.
  • Generate non-compliance documentation
  • Assist in development of the FAA Construction Safety and Phasing Plans (CSPP), Safety Program, and QA/QC program.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly FAA Construction Progress and Inspection Report From 5370-1
  • Document and review all test data for conformance to the specifications including but not limited to subgrade, subbase, base course and asphalt pavement material tests.
  • Verify and review monthly as-built documentation for accurate project records.
  • Utilize construction management software (e.g., Procore or Unifier)
  • Coordinate and facilitate access for Air Operations Area (AOA) activities.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with client’s safety, environmental, and FAA regulations.
  • Be proactive in identifying and addressing potential safety issues, ensuring all construction work aligns with strict safety protocols.
  • Assist the closeout phase of the project and develop the closeout report.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of significant airfield construction experience at large or medium hub commercial airports, with a strong emphasis on airfield pavement (mostly asphalt) and utility work.
  • Comfortable working in a highly complex, active airfield environment
  • Strong understanding of FAA standards and airport protocols
  • Able to manage inspectors and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
  • California-based or ready to relocate immediately
  • Strong capability in interpreting construction plans and specifications.
  • Proven ability to develop effective working relationships with contractors, proactively resolve field issues, and communicate any concerns to the construction manager and Resident Engineer.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain airport badge that may include a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA).
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to maintain detailed, accurate project documentation.
