FZ is looking for aAccounting Intern for the Grand Rapids, MI office to join our 2026 Summer Intern program. Our interns will be responsible for supporting their assigned department on day-to-day duties as well as working on an assigned project for the duration of this 14-week internship. The internship will also include developmental opportunities such as visiting construction jobsites to learn more about FZs business, networking opportunities, a training session to familiarize themselves with their own personal workstyle as well as how to work better with others, taking part in National Intern Day and much more!

Areas of focus during the internship:

  • Organization, reconciliation and process improvement for Lien Waivers
  • Documentation and process improvement for temporary/contractor worker process
  • Organization and reconciliation of file directory
  • Entering invoices for Accounts Payable
  • Shadowing with Payroll with project work
  • Work with Project Accountants to learn to generate customer invoices
  • Learn AIA billing and % complete accounting basic concepts
  • Learn about Overhead Analysis
  • Update monthly branch forecasts with actuals
  • Developing an understanding of the unique and complex work of billing in a niche industry

Key Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a bachelors degree program and is pursuing a degree in Finance or Accounting incoming Junior or Senior status for Fall 26 semester preferred
  • Ability to work in-office 40 hours per week from May-August 26
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people inter-departmentally
  • Possesses critical thinking skills and high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel
